Palisades Country Day School

Mommy and Me
Learning starts early at the Palisades with our Mommy and Me Program designed for children between the ages of 18 and 24 months.
For one session a week, groups limited to six parents and their children attend this special program, where parents can connect with one another while fulfilling their child’s urges to explore, learn, and grow.
Program sessions are conducted by a music teacher and are composed of a variety of developmental activities – including musical activities and movement – that allow children to have fun and learn at the same time.

Tiny Tots
Palisades Country Day School is proud to present our newest addition…
A program designed exclusively for children ages 16 months – 24 months.
With warm and nurturing teachers, low student-teacher ratios and a developmentally age-appropriate environment; we now welcome “the Tiny Tots” to join us for music, movement, art activities, and so much more!
With flexible scheduling, affording you the opportunity to sign your child up for a half-day or full day session 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., from two days per week up to five days per week, this program offers the opportunity for your child to safely explore, learn and grow.  We will stimulate their curiosity while building self-confidence as the children busily begin to discover the world around them.
Daily reports are provided to the parents.  We also offer before care and after-care through our “Kids Club” program.

Toddlers
Created to stimulate curiosity and develop intellectual processes, our Toddler Program is the perfect place for two-year olds.  Held two, three or five days a week, each class is supervised by both an experienced teacher and two assistants.
In safe and nurturing surroundings, teachers help children discover the world around them through:
• A “learn-through-play” environment that incorporates educational and manipulative materials for learning: pattern, sequence, numbers, and letter recognition
• Proven techniques encouraging children to develop social skills
• Music, movement, language, play, and creative arts
• Child-centered classes with an emphasis on building self-confidence

Pre-School Program
Individualized to attend to each child’s learning style and stage of development, children who attend our three-year old program are able to learn in a warm and nurturing environment.  Held two, three or five days a week, the small student-to-teacher ratio enables staff to focus on every child’s needs and skills, allowing each child to have his or her own individual program.
• A multi-sensory approach to learning complete with visual, tactile, and auditory experiences for the development of mathematical and literary concepts
• Cooperative and creative play helping to foster language development and the expansion of imagination through “pretend”
• Consistent encouragement for children to individually master mathematical and scientific discoveries through manipulative materials, puzzles, and blocks
• Painting, sculpting, drawing, cutting, and gluing to enhance creative expression and fine motor skills

Pre-Kindergarten
Having a choice of the perfect environment for your child is important, which is why Palisades offers parents a variety of PRE-K classes from which to choose.  Classes are designed to enrich both the mind and character of every student – providing individualized approaches to learning within an environment rich in fun, phonics, language instruction and self-esteem building activities.

Kindergarten
Palisades Kindergarten Program is renowned for providing children with the tools they need for reading, writing and reasoning.  It also helps prepare children for the future by offering a variety of formal learning events and challenges they will experience in the years to come.  Children work together in small groups to develop their problem-solving abilities and social skills, while simultaneously enhancing independent thinking.
The Kindergarten Program (9:00 a.m.-2:45 p.m.) is comprised of a stimulating and challenging curriculum.  Children are given constant support and are encouraged to reach their “potential” while increasing their attention span and developing solid work habits.
Teachers work with students on a one-to-one basis.  Palisades’s low student-to-teacher ratio allows consistent communication, helping each child to:
• Development beyond fundamental reading, writing, and math skills
• Practice and reinforce learning through games, manipulative materials, media and the creative arts – all typically perceived by children as “play”
• Strengthen reading skills by reading independently, and being read to, from an array of children’s literature and non-fiction titles
• Fortify reading capabilities through repeated practice of letters and sounds in addition to the introduction of “beginning level” reading books.  Children are also encouraged to write in a “free-flow” manner, without concerning themselves with correct spelling and punctuation (The Writing Process)
• Learn about the world around them with a theme-based, integrated approach to social studies and science.  This enables students to see the subtle connections across the curriculum and use newly acquired skills to learn more about plants, animals, the seasons, water, important holidays, and so much more.

Kids Club
Under the loving care of our teaching staff, we offer “before school care” and “after school care”.  Our hours are flexible and we will do our best to accommodate your individual needs.
